BAKKA HOME is a new design brand founded in Dubai by Annie Blixell under Deco Storage, with its first collection launching on December 2025
BAKKA HOME was born from a journey that began far from Dubai... in the vibrant craft communities of Senegal.
Annie lived and worked in Dakar, collaborating with local weavers through her venture Happy Baskets Senegal, creating handwoven baskets exported to leading design retailers in Europe and the US.
Later, while living in South Africa during the pandemic, Annie began experimenting in her garage, exploring how to translate traditional weaving into a new, durable form that could withstand water, sun, and snow.
After years of testing silicone and PU foams, she discovered EVA: a flexible, waterproof, and lightweight material that reimagined the basket for modern indoor and outdoor living.
Through extensive trial and error and close collaboration with manufacturing partners in China she finally achieved the perfect balance of design, function, and longevity.
Today, BAKKA HOME stands where Scandinavian design values meet African craftsmanship, refined in Dubai, where founder Annie lives and continues to shape the brand for contemporary living.
Each piece reflects durability, function, and timeless form made for those who value design with meaning and longevity.
BAKKA HOME also supports Senegalese artisan communities through ongoing global collaborations and development initiatives. Today, the weavers work with multiple retailers across Scandinavia and the Middle East, producing traditional handwoven baskets that continue to carry their craftsmanship forward.
